Deluxe Album + “Tony Soprano” Music Video OUT NOW!!
Friends,
My deluxe album, The Secret Ingredient is Even More Meat, is out now with Audio Antihero. It’s been a winding road! The release and weekenders last year, recording the album summer of 23 in Greenville and touring all through June on shows I booked myself, practicing in Josh’s garage in Knoxville for some of those early gigs before I’d ever had a drummer or bassist. Look at us now! Surrounded by meat!
You can order cassettes here which my sweetheart Alex designed! You can read about our singles thus far too, which have dropped since we last spoke (last New Moon) “Neckline” which premiered with God is in the TV, and “Nightshade” which premiered with Under the Radar. You can even have an early watch of possibly my favorite music video yet, for our deluxe version of the song, Tony Soprano, and that’s out with KLOF Magazine (or go watch here.) We had to completely switch gears the week of the shoot because of financial limitations and it ended up being so warm and special and wonderful anyways, another one #shotoniphone, talking shit while Miss Thing did my makeup, the first shot just delivering straight to Sam with the camera and them going, I think we got it! Friends from piano class coming to sing and serve in wedding-esque outfits. I made Gram’s pizzelles for the occasion. It was really stressful logistically leading up to it, but the warmth of that room I think really shows on camera. Everyone rallied and I feel extremely grateful for my people! Vyette’s dancing is so stunning, Cat and Daniel on piano made the day feel extra special (and you can hear that room noise at the end of the video), I even got my piano classmates to come sit in, Kirsten and Kevin. Really just so proud of this one.
I have been getting to do a bunch of interviews for this, and was asked recently why I decided to do a deluxe album. It was my manager Brenna’s idea, but the more I sat with it, the more exciting it became. This record gets to hold my Philly life and my Knoxville life, these two essential places in the world of my music. It also allows for even more music videos… Sam just keeps coming up with these incredible visual concepts to go with the songs, and I’m getting to keep having a new relationship to the music. Also this physical release and the formal support of Audio Antihero (though Jamie was helping me so much even before I signed) has meant so much! I get to hold this music in my hands so soon!
I’ve got a few shows coming up:
Nov 2 at Liminal Space Pole Studio with Bleeding Gums Records
Nov 5 at PhilaMoCA Benefit for the Philly Tenants Union
Nov 9 at Launderette for the album release with poetry readings from friends and a special essay reading from yours truly! Come out and celebrate !!!
